Services Provided: For southern Utah, responsible for providing quality language development and specific educational practices to deaf and hard of hearing students in primarily rural areas of our state, Deaf South collaborates with local districts, families, and school personnel to provide appropriate services regardless of student location.
For students in Utah County, we have a strong Listening and Spoken Language (LSL) program, serving students from Preschool to 3rd grade. We also have a growing American Sign Language (ASL) program, currently serving students in Preschool and High School. During 2020, we are expecting to open a new building in Springville that will house all of our preschool and elementary programs.
1. Parent Infant Program provides assessment and home-based services for children birth to three years of age who are hearing and/or visually impaired. This includes information, family support services, hearing aid training and referral services.
2. Self-contained classes for hearing and/or visually impaired children located in local school districts that provide education to students three to twenty-one years of age.
3. Consultant services regarding education of children who are hearing and/or visually impaired to faculty and staff members in local schools and agencies.
4. Loan materials and equipment which are adapted to the education needs of children who are hearing and/or visually impaired.
