Medicaid is a source of health insurance coverage for Utah's vulnerable populations. Medicaid is a state/federal program that pays for medical services for low-income pregnant women, children, individuals who are elderly or have a disability, parents and women with breast or cervical cancer. To qualify, these individuals must meet income and other eligibility requirements. The Utah Department of Health's coronavirus information line and website (Spanish Website is also available, with Chat options as well) provides up-to-date information about the coronavirus, including prevention, preparedness, travel restrictions, vaccines, and response.For those experiencing symptoms or who are concerned about exposure to the virus, the information line is also available.COVID-19 Update/Testing: All state-sponsored (free) COVID-19 testing sites will close after March 31. This includes all Mako Medical, TestUtah, TourHealth, Utah Department of Health Mobile Testing Team, and the travel testing lanes at the Cannon Health building and St. George locations. People seeking COVID-19 travel testing will need to find a testing provider which offers the type of test required by their travel destination. People can find testing providers by contacting their travel agent, airline, or travel destination; or doing an online search.COVID-19 Update /Vaccination: As of June 21, 2022, all Utahns ages six (6) months of age and older are eligible to get vaccinated. Booster doses are available for anyone ages 5 years or older who got their second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.

A health resource for Utah's rural, multicultural and underserved communities, the Office coordinates federal, state, and local efforts aimed at improving the health of Utah's rural, medically underserved, and multicultural residents. Works with communities that need assistance conducting needs assessments, recruiting health care professionals, grant writing, identifying sources of funding and implementing other projects related to decreasing disparity and increasing access to primary health care.
