Biosketch:

Julie Steele, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC has been a faculty member with the University of Utah College of Nursing since 2003 and joined the Utah Regional Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (URLEND) faculty in 2016. She is a Duke Johnson & Johnson Nurse Leadership Fellow alumnus (2015) and family nurse practitioner. Dr. Steele provides outpatient care for youth in foster care at the South Main Clinic Medical Home for Youth in Foster. Through her clinical practice and management of the South Main Foster Care Clinic, she has been an advocate for children in foster care and received the Utah Substance Abuse Advisory Council 2014 Governor’s Award for her work on behalf of Drug Endangered Children. Areas of interest include multi-disciplinary collaboration to provide trauma informed care and care coordination to improve outcomes for vulnerable youth. Dr. Steele serves on the Division of Child and Family Services State Child Welfare Improvement Council and has been involved in research related to the health care issues of children in foster care, and recently co-authored the Medical Home Portal Foster Care Module. She has worked in diverse practice settings including public community health centers and private practice.
Julie Steele received her undergraduate degree in Nursing from the University of Utah (1980); Masters of Science degree from the University of Washington (1987), and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Utah (2012).
